I created the RESCUE series of acrylic paintings in December 2023, when I was 94 years old. Unlike some of my other recent series of paintings, the current series was meant to show the kindness of people in the midst of war. The image on the stencil I used to create this series touched me deeply. It comforted me to think that my brother’s buddies may have been as kind to him in his last hours, after he was fatally wounded in the Israel War of Independence in 1948.
