Bombs

I created the BOMBS series of acrylic paintings in December 2023, when I was 94 years old. Like my other recent series of paintings, the current series was meant to express my view about the state of the world. After creating numerous series of mandala paintings, which expressed my desire for a state of tranquility and harmony, I painted the BOMBS series to convey that our world is doomed in large part because people are engaged in fighting one another rather than in collaborating on fighting common disasters. This series was particularly difficult for me to paint because it brought back sad memories of World War II and the bombing that took place then, even in my city of Haifa. I employed the ancient art of stenciling in creating this series.
